Quarentine Lemon Banana Lavender Hair Mask

Alright so this is how you know I am on the verge of going stir crazy up in here! I have been looking for ways to use up a surplus of produce AND pass the time.

So Viola, I came up with this banana hair mask. :)

The topical benefits are actually insane! Bananas are rich in potassium, so they make a super hydrating moisturizer. They contain vitamin A which is healing & anti-aging. Bananas contain B vitamins, which are a great defense against free radicals, as well as vitamin, C, Folic acid & zinc. Honestly, the list goes on and on...

Why Lemon? Besides the fact that lemons are antimicrobial- they are a perfect ingredient to combat dry scalp and hair. (just use sparingly as too much citric acid could be too much of a good thing!)

Aside from lavender being an anti-inflammatory, it also has antiseptic properties which cleanse the hair & scalp. More importantly, though - especially right now lavender is just so soothing. Lavender essential oil is known throughout the world over to be useful in treating anxiety, insomnia...depression. I also remember reading that it could potentially promote hair growth. Hey, it's worth a shot, right?

Why Honey? How could adding honey ever be bad? It has moisturizing properties, has tons of vitamins, antioxidants, proteins, minerals and amino acids. honey also contains natural emollients, humectants which easily bond with water making it a moisture-locking powerhouse for your hair.

Hair Mask Ingredients:

-1 banana

-3-4 tbsp honey (preferably raw, organic)

-4-5 drops of lavender essential oil

-juice from 1/4 of a lemon (I used Meyer)

-shower cap if needed

Start by peeling your banana and put into a small mixing bowl. Mash the banana very well with the back of a fork.

Add all other ingredients and mix to combine.

Apply the mask to damp hair & apply a shower cap if you choose to use one.

Leave mask on for 20-25 minutes

Finally, rinse with lukewarm water, then shampoo & condition hair as normal.

Hopefully this hair mask will help you too, to pass the time, and hey a little extra hair love never hurt nobody! Enjoy!
